Hi Ginger!
Just checking in to say hi.
Nobody is breeding in WPMs over here this year so we'd like to gather interested parties to educate them before they jump in to this big, demanding breed.

Hello and thanks for the invite!

My breed is the Swedish Lapphund of which there are presently 4 in the US with known histories (3+ generations). I hope to make that four when I travel to Sweden this summer.

Anyone planning on attending the world show in Stockholm this July?

I am interested in where folks are in the process of advancing towards AKC recognition and what you see as the pros and cons of such recognition.

I live in Californis - part of the year in the south, the rest in the north. The mandatory spay/neuter laws are a concern especially when you have requirements of doing so by 4 months of age!

Looking forward to meeting and learning from all.

Hi Ginger and Patricia,

I am not familiar with blogs too much. But thanks for inviting me.

I am a Mudi owner and breeder, I have competed in conformation in the US and also completed the CGC tests on all of our Mudis, even though we live nearly full time in Hungary (motherland of the Mudi).

Hmm, full recognition. That's a tough question. I am torn between the choice of going for it and staying forever in the FSS. I see pros and cons of both. I wonder how other breeds feel about it.

I look forward to reading comments on this issue and others that concern rare breeds, I think we have more than a few concerns that the more common breeds don't have.

Best wishes,

Greetings Everyone !
Thanks for joining us.

Note for new users: please create an account so you can post comments.

I think all Rare breed owners have similar concerns and issues. It made sense to me to get as many of us together so we could work together to find solutions.

Several of my UK Podengo breeder friends will be in Sweden at the World show.
